Anatomy of the Trap

This isn't bad design. It's Dark Pattern UX.
Every pixel is engineered to trick you into a recurring subscription you didn't ask for.

Step 1

The $19 Bait

They advertise a "$19 Cleaning" in massive font. This price is mathematically impossible for a legitimate business. It exists solely to get your credit card number.

"Clean your entire home for $19!"
$200 value
Step 2

The Hidden Checkbox

During checkout, the "Membership" agreement is hidden in a tiny, pre-checked box or buried in a wall of text. You aren't buying a cleaning; you're signing a contract.

I agree to the terms (which charge me $49/mo forever).
Step 3

The Roach Motel

Easy to get in, impossible to get out. No "Cancel" button in the dashboard. You have to call a number that doesn't answer or email a bot that ignores you.

Error: You cannot cancel online. Please contact support (wait time: ∞).

This is a violation of the Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act (ROSCA).
